A human body goes through many major as well as minor changes, giving the body, perfect shape and system. Our Body system makes sure that we function healthily and adequately without any disturbance and disease.
Cancer is a disease that affects our body and paralyzes every function which promotes healthy working. Cancer is caused by the abnormal reproduction of the cell, having the capacity to affect other potential parts and surroundings of a human body, negatively. These abnormal cells multiply as fast they can, causing clusters of cells known as Tumors.
There are more than 100 types of cancer which affect different bodily organs and tissues. The names of each cancer are formed by the body part or tissue it affects. Some of best-known cancers are Breast Cancer, Bone Cancer, Brain Tumor, Cervical Cancer, Skin Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Liver Cancer, Mouth Cancer, Prostate Cancer and many more. There are even names which we were aware off, but still, they exist. Worldwide, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death. It is estimated that by 2030, the number of cancer deaths will have risen from 8 million to 13 million.
There are lots of research happening on cancer, but one of the toughest jobs is, to detect the early stages of cancer and the causes behind it.
Causes Of Cancer:
Cancer is an unwelcomed and uninvited addition to the human body which disturbs whole healthy bodily functioning. Though cancer has many research histories, one could not possibly figure out the actual cause of cancer infecting our body. Different studies have proven the various signs and symptoms of cancer. Which of them includes:
- Inherited genetic defects
- Harmful environment
- Excess consumption of Alcohol
- Tobacco chewing
- Cigarette smoking
There are even different bacteria and viruses which can cause cancer:
- HBV, HCV (Hepatitis viruses that cause hepatitis)
- HPV (Human Papilloma Virus, papilloma virus, which causes changes, eg. Cervical cells)
- Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pyloric causes gastritis)
- EBV (Epstein-Barr virus, the herpes virus that causes inflammation of the throat lymphoid)
The roots of cancer and the body part it affects can determine the type of cancer and stages of cancer.
Stages Of Cancer:
Now that we know some of the reasons behind cancer affecting the human body, there are even stages of this tumor which steadily changes, altering our working bodily abilities.
The stages of cancer can be seen in 4 levels. Each stage represents size and extent of the tumors in the body which the affected body parts.
- Stage 0: The starting stage of cancer. The stage where the tumor has not spread to other parts of the body and can be cured.
- Stage 1: This is where the tumor starts to grow into the surrounding affecting tissues but not rapidly.
- Stage 2 and 3: The tumor now has begun to grow further into tissues. The size has been expanded and has also spread to the lymph nodes of the body.
- Stage 4: By this stage, cancer has spread to other organs in the body.
But, did you knew searches are going on with cancer detected at an early stage? Yes! Reports prove that scientists are studying and experimenting detecting cancer only by a blood test.
Blood Test Detecting Cancer:
Studies have developed a blood test, which can detect the presence of common wight cancers in the body. Called CancerSEEK, the blood test detects tiny amounts of DNA and proteins into the bloodstream from cancer cells. This can then indicate the presence of breast, lung, bowel, esophageal, pancreatic, stomach, liver or ovarian cancers.
The team of doctors at Johns Hopkins believe that the blood test detects the majority of cancers in people with four biggest cancer killers: Ovarian, colon, lung and breast cancer.
Reports show that scientists are reporting good results on a blood test to detect many different types of cancer at an early stage, including some of the deadliest ones that lack screening tools now. Many groups are working on Biopsy Tests, which looks for DNA and other things that tumor shed into the blood and try to find cancer to get it treated.
In a study, the journal Science, John Hopkins University scientists looked to see how their experimental test detected cancer in people known to be affected by the disease. The blood test found that 70 percent of eight common types of cancer in the 1,005 patients.
How Does Blood Test work?
Often long before having any symptoms, even the smallest tumor release minute amounts of indifferent DNA and abnormal proteins into the blood. The proteins and DNA released from these cancer cells are unique, containing multiple changes not present in normal cells. Along with cancer detection, the blood test accurately predicts what type of cancer it was, in some of the cases.
The newly invented blood-based cancer DNA test can be very sensitive, accurately detecting one abnormal DNA part amongst many other normal DNA parts.
Why Is It Important?
This treatment helps patients with remarkable gains in life expectancy which can come at significant physical and financial cost. Early detecting and diagnosis is a key to avoid damaging impacts of cancer treatments and to reduce cancer deaths.
There is a characteristic pattern of mutations and altered proteins that differ among cancer types. CancerSEEK can detect cancer somewhere in the body and also suggest where to start looking.
Overall, the results appear to be different and unique to previously developed blood-based tests for cancer.
With this, the new techniques and tests are proving effective on cancer and can cure the patients affecting it. In the future, such a test could be used in routine screening programmes to significantly increase the proportion of patients who get treatment early, at a time before cancer would typically show up on conventional scans. The test can also identify the form of cancer that a patient has, a goal that previous cancer blood tests have failed to achieve.
